Erie’s Lee Eighmy, Jr. defeated Mike Machuga also of Erie 256-237 in a single game final to take home
the grand prize of $1,500 in the 36th annual Eastland Open this past Sunday. Machuga collected a prize
of $750 as the runner-up in a tournament that included 160 bowlers.
Eighmy Jr., who averaged 240 Sunday, defeated Buffalo’s George Szczublewski in the semifinal, while
Machuga edged Pete Zmozynski also of Buffalo. Szczublewski and Zmozynski made $525 each.
The top 24 players bowled in single elimination matches after qualifying with a score of 618 or better.
The top 39 who received a payout bowled at least a 592 series.
